Top health and fitness trends for 2016 are vying for our attention, like crazy, all over social media!!

But, it can be so hard to know which ones are just fads and which will have legitimate value and staying power well into the future...

but here are a few of the top health and fitness trends for 2016 to pay attention to, that will likely be the most helpful to keep you energetic fit and healthy this year and beyond...

What are the Top Fitness, Health and Wellness Trends for 2016?

1-  Online Wellness Info: According to Pew Research, 72% of internet users say they looked online for health information of one kind or another within the past year. This includes searches related to serious conditions, general information searches, and searches for minor health problems. In fact the third most popular activity people do online—right behind checking email and using a search engine—is looking for answers to health questions. Health and Fitness brands should consider a robust informational content program to aid in discovery and build trust with consumers.
2-  Fusion Fitness -  Fusion fitness blends various workout styles such as Tabata and ballet barre for a fun way to mix up your traditional workout routine.  Look for a fusion fitness class at your local gym, online or various workout DVDs that you can do at home.
3-  Nutritional Cleansing-  Another of the top health and fitness trends for 2016 will include a movement towards more nutritional cleansing to rid the body of unwanted toxins that prevent the body from releasing unhealthy fat.   Global Cleanse Day is coming up and people all over the world will be celebrating the practice of cleansing for general health and well-being.  Learn more about Global Cleanse day here.
4-  Digital Fitness Technology-  In 2015, wearable fitness trackers such as the FitBit were on the top of everyone’s holiday wish list. In 2016, the trend will continue as people use apps and wearable trackers to motivate themselves to exercise, monitor their health and share their success with family and friends via social media. As technology improves, people will want to upgrade and improve, investing in new fitness gadgets and products because they’ve already learned the benefits of integrating these products into their daily lives.

5-  Body Weight Training- use your own body weight as resistance to build lean muscle and sculpt a healthier looking physique in 2016.  You don't need any fancy equipment, just your own body weight will do the trick.  (Good examples include yoga, Piyo and Barre classes.)

6-  Prevention Focus- Another trend and movement in health and fitness during 2016 and beyond will to be focus more on wellness to prevent sickness and on natural health solutions rather than on medicine or chemicals (whenever it can be avoided).  
7-  Fitness and Weight Loss Accountability Groups-  Another of the continuing Top Health and fitness trends in 2016 with be in social media groups to help people stay Energetic Fit and Healthy.  Accountability groups are a great way to help people feel encouraged and stay on track with their fitness and weight loss goals.

9-  Yoga, Pilates Hybrids-  Another fitness trend carrying on and expanding into 2016 will be the hybrid workouts stemming with roots in both yoga and pilates such as the newly popular Piyo workout which combines elements of pilates, yoga, strength and cardio.  Piyo is definitely a new favorite of mine in addition to ballet barre workouts! ;)
10-  Online Workouts-  Continuing and growing in 2016 are also online workout routines and channels such as on youtube.  There are so many growing and popular fitness personalities and companies that have free workout videos that you can do at home.

A FitBit or something else? :-D There are SO many great online workouts- you can literally go to youtube and type in a type that you like and chances are there are TONS to choose from in all different time lengths from 5-10 minutes to 60 minutes or longer and different intensity levels from beginner to advanced!
