Ok, so no matter how well you're sticking to your routine, it's bound to happen...
You hit that DREADED weight loss plateau!
You're doing everything right, exercising regularly, eating right... right?
So, what can you do??
Sometimes, even when you're technically doing everything right on paper it still doesn't result in any pounds or inches lost in your real life for a week or 2 (maybe 3) and that can be SO annoying!!

1- Lift Weights to Lose Weight- So this is a phrase you may have heard before but it's an important one... Lifting weights helps to build lean muscle on the body which helps you to burn more calories throughout the entire day even while at rest!
2- Switch up your Routine- If you've been taking the same class at the gym for the past month, consider trying something completely different.. Start swimming or running. If you are normally into cross fit, consider yoga or pilates. And Vice versa if your regular workout is more slow paced, try a faster Hiit routine to mix things up! Your muscles can get used to the same moves so the change of pace can help kickstart your results again.
3- Adjust your calorie intake- As you start to lose weight, your metabolism may decrease because your body will require fewer calories to fuel your smaller body. Pay attention to your caloric needs and consider a calorie tracking app to help keep track.
4- Do you need MORE Calories?? Similarly, when you are working out more than you may have before, you also may require MORE calories to sustain your energy output. Too few calories in the day can actually put your body into starvation mode forcing it to think it needs to hang onto weight to protect you from starving to death! (Really!) So also be sure you aren't eating too little!
5- Keep a Food Log: A food diary is often an underestimated tool in aiding with weight loss. Many times we think we are doing very well but forget about little taste-tests here and there while making a meal or absent-mindedly dipping into the snack bowl on the counter while waiting for dinner. Writing down what you eat in detail either with a food diary or an app can help you to be more mindful and aware of what you are consuming and therefore much more careful to stay on track with your goals.
6- Get some Zzzz... Are you tired? One of the big things that can hinder weight loss is being too tired or stressed. Getting a full night's rest is important to losing body fat because it hits the reset button for your hormones. Even the smallest amount of sleep loss can increase cortisol which is the body's stress hormone.
